Trumpet Call Notes 2008

2008 Archive

At the October meeting we had prayed over the children of our city, and this morning it was wonderful to welcome lots of new children to Trumpet Call. We felt that there was still more work to do in prayer to see a real change in this area, so we came to the meeting ready to be led further along the road with the Lord. The October meeting began with an unexpected change of venue. We couldn’t get into Bluecoat School, but thanks to the hospitality of Queensberry Street and the willingness of the people who stood outside Bluecoat redirecting everyone, we eventually got going.Several people felt God was at work in the change, and Ruth reminded us that when the cloud moved off, Moses and the people moved off with it. By the end of the meeting we could see that God had indeed moved us to Queensberry Street because we needed to be in a safe place for the task ahead of us. At the beginning of the meeting, Ruth shared again about the return of the ark of God’s presence to Nottingham. She said that a few months ago she had felt a great sense of anticipation but nothing had seemed to come of it. Then the Lord explained it to her in terms of childbirth, and said it had been a contraction, i.e., the beginning of a process but not the complete process. We are now in a crucial time, a dangerous time, and must not try to push on ahead too fast. We need to move in the timing of God. Click here to read full notes. to read full notes.

This Trumpet Call was a very special and individual time for each person, a holy time of meeting with God. There aren’t any specific notes from this meeting.

A leader wrote this about the June meeting: “Before I came this morning, I felt God say that today would see an outpouring of His love. I thought that this meant that He would minister to us in this way, but He has shown me that this is not a ‘bless me’ meeting, but a ‘bless them’ meeting. He wants to pour His love out over our city, and to use us to release that love.” This word was not given out at the front, but was sown into the meeting in prayer, and this is exactly what happened. Throughout the morning people were being led by the Lord, to pray into the city. The invitations to come forward for prayer emphasised the need to receive in order to take what we’ve received out into the city. Click here to read full notes. to read full notes.

The first meeting at Bluecoat School was characterised by the word ‘more’. We had more space, more people, more trumpet blasts (one welcoming the Lord to the meeting, and a second one welcoming him to the city), more joy, more praise, and more evidence of the Holy Spirit moving powerfully among us. “The Lord is mighty!” On our final morning at St Mary’s we began by proclaiming the greatness of God in creation, and his power at work in our lives. We recognised that while we have been preparing the way for him, he has also been preparing us. Click here to read full notes. to read full notes.

At the end of the February meeting we ‘closed a door’ and determined never to go back. Consequently, the March meeting began at a new level of praise. Ruth shared some of her personal journey over the last forty years, and how this impacts on our corporate journey. She then spoke about her experiences of the past few weeks, where the Lord had been leading her from Gilgal to the Jordan. Click here to read full notes. to read full notes.

Ruth began by exhorting us to prepare the way for the Lord, quoting Psalm 24, Matt 3 & Isaiah 62. She said that sickness, disease & fear are the enemy, and that the Bible tells us to ‘drive out the enemy’ – he is illegal! Click here to read full notes. to read full notes.

Ruth recapped on the journey through 2007, reminding us that the restoration of intimacy, identity and authority remains an integral part of our journey together. We felt God challenge us towards the end of 2007, asking if we are ready for full commitment. 2007 has been a year of transition where God has been dealing with many things in our lives. It has been a time of getting things in place in preparation for 2008 – a year of new beginnings. Click here to read full notes. to read full notes.
